As a University honor student I tutored fellow students that solicited for help through honor societies. More recently I helped my wife homeschool our own two daughters. My 25+ years as an engineer has kept me utilizing math concepts every day. In my experience, math is best understood when the concepts of the abstract ideas are applied to real examples that the student can grasp. Very little needs to be blindly memorized.
